Dec Group showcases SafeDock® automated drum docking and flow chemistry solutions at ACHEMA
July 25, 2022
Dec Group will show its latest SafeDock® drum docking platform alongside innovative flow chemistry solutions at the reconvened ACHEMA 2022 expo in Frankfurt.
Dec Group will share a stand at Booth A21 in Hall 12.0 at the Frankfurt Messe showground with recently acquired UK-based Alconbury Watson Ltd (AWL), whose expertise in continuous processing technologies further strengthens Dec Group’s comprehensive materials handling portfolio.
A further UK-based Dec Group member, Extract Technology, will also be represented at ACHEMA, with a stand at Booth F4 in Hall 3.1 exhibiting its world-leading aseptic and containment systems for pharma, biopharma, cell therapy, nuclear containment, and radiopharmaceutical applications. From its facilities in the UK and USA, Extract Technology carries out ISO-9001 and NQA-1 manufacturing of isolators, and downflow booths with process integrations including for pharma manufacturing, ATMPs, sterility testing, filling and R&D. Also manufacture Modular Cleanrooms, and RABS++.
World first
The Dec/AWL stand will highlight several innovative technologies. These include Dec’s recently enhanced SafeDock® system for fully automated drum docking under isolation when combined with the Isotube containment system, offering reduced workload and enhanced process reliability.
Used in combination with the PTS Powder Transfer System®, reactor loading or powder input into any process can be fully automated and carried out under contained and safe manufacturing conditions. The system has now been enhanced to work in combination with the proven DCS® Drum Containment System and Isotube glove box and process isolators for handling drums. SafeDock® is the first system to fully automate this process and can be used for highly potent active ingredients (HPAPIs) requiring containment values of less than 1 µg/m3.
Continuous flow chemistry
A further theme of the stand displays will be continuous flow chemistry solutions in reaction, crystallization, and filter-drying, combining Dec platforms, such as PTS Batchmixer® and flexPTS robotic microdosing, with those developed by AWL.
From its headquarters at Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England, AWL designs, manufactures and supplies a wide range of solutions relevant to continuous processing, including continuous filtration systems & dryers, continuous reactors/crystallizers, laboratory heating and cooling equipment.

Dec’s ACHEMA team will be offering live demonstrations of the various systems on show.
